Rooted in compassion. Grounded in evidence-based therapy. Centered on you.
About Me & the Heart Behind Root + Haven
I’m Melissa Wilson, LCSW—founder of Root + Haven Counseling Services. I’m a therapist, clinical supervisor, and fellow human who believes that healing happens when we feel truly seen, supported, and safe.
With over 15 years of experience in social work-including seven years in palliative care—I bring a grounded, trauma-informed, and compassionate approach to therapy. My work is rooted in evidenced-based practices and guided by deep respect for your lived experience, your inner wisdom, and your capacity to heal.
Whether you are navigating grief, anxiety, trauma, or life transitions, my intention is to create a space where you can feel supported in your becoming. This is your space to breathe, to feel, and to bring meaningful change.
Welcome.
Root & Haven was born from my belief that we all deserve a place to feel deeply, grounded, and safe—a place where healing can begin at the roots. The name reflects both the steady, rooted foundation we co-create in therapy and the sanctuary it becomes for your nervous system, your emotions and your truth.
Services at Root + Haven
I currently see adult clients located in Indiana for telehealth services. In-person availability is coming soon!
-
For adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or health concerns.
There is space for you to explore, process and reconnect your innate wisdom and strength.
Our work integrates evidenced-based practices with relational depth and trauma-informed care.
-
I work with clients living with the lingering impacts of trauma, including complex PTSD, medical trauma, spiritual trauma, and attachment wounding.
I often integrate a form of therapy called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) that helps the brain process and resolve distressing memories.
ART is a gentle, evidenced-based therapy that uses eye movements to allow clients to shift the way traumatic experiences are stored—without having to talk about the details.
Many people find relief more quickly than with traditional talk therapy, often within just a few sessions. ART can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, grief, and phobias.
-
With over 15 years of experience in hospice and palliative care, I understand the nuanced, non-linear nature of grief.
Whether your loss is recent or long-held, I offer gentle presence and guidance as you move through your own rhythm of healing.
-
For LSW’s and emerging therapists seeking a supportive, reflective space to grow their clinical skills.
I offer supervision grounded in ethics, authenticity, and the art of truly seeing your clients—and yourself.
Your Investment in Healing
Healing is not a luxury—it’s a birthright. At Root + Haven, I believe therapy is an investment in your emotional well-being, nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. It’s a space where you can feel grounded, held, and deeply supported as you expand and grow.
I also know that the financial piece can feel heavy or uncertain at times. That’s why I’m committed to transparency and collaboration when it comes to cost.
Root + Haven is in its early growth phase. I’m currently in the process of setting up secure systems for scheduling and payment. If you’d like to connect or learn more when services become available, please reach out.
